Subscribe to CARAS

A subscription to CARAS keeps you connected to researchers. clinicians, and alternative sexuality communities.  Currently, these include kink/BDSM/leather/fetish sexualities, related sexwork, and consensual non-monogamous relationships such as polyamory. CARAS provides support for research, help in working with alternative sexuality communities, mentoring around career development and research/clinical issues, a multidisciplinary webinar series that includes expert academic and community presenters, and opportunities to earn professional Continuing Education credit.

Programs offered by CARAS include:

* The CARAS Mentoring Program, focused on support of graduate students and professionals in both research and clinical areas, as well as community members engaged in scholarly projects.

* The CARAS Research Support Program, which includes Community Advisory Board review and endorsement of research projects, if the project meets criteria of scholarly excellence, ethical conduct, and potential for benefit to the communities addressed. CARAS endorsement indicates completion of a rigorous community-academic committee review and feedback process, which can enhance the quality of the research and also facilitate IRB review.

* Professional Continuing Education - CARAS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARAS maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

* The CARAS Reading Group - which provides a unique opportunity to read and discuss key works in the history and theory of kink/BDSM/leather.

* The CARAS Education Program, providing opportunities to learn and present research in a variety of formats, forums, and platforms, including webinars, community and academic events, and CARAS-hosted conferences such as the C2C.  Many CARAS educational activities are available to subscribers at no additional cost.

* Institutional Review Board (IRB). CARAS has a federally registered IRB committee with unique expertise in alternative sexualities research.

* Periodic updates on important trends and events in the field of sexualities research as it relates to alternative sexualities.

* New and renewing subscribers will be added as members of the (low volume) CARAS listserv for general announcements, and for subscribers only, at https://caras.groups.io .
