The CARAS Research Volunteers Project
The CARAS Research Volunteers Project, which we call the Research Volunteers, will serve as an important resource to help research with alternative sexuality populations, including Kink, Leather, BDSM, fetish, associated sex work, and consensual non-monogamous relationships.

Research Volunteers:
The purpose of the CARAS Research Volunteers project is to allow members of alternative sexualities (alt-sex) communities, including but not limited to kink, Leather, BDSM, associated sex work, and consensual non-monogamies, to volunteer to potentially be research participants in research studies addressing health and other issues affecting people in these communities.
If you enroll in the Research Volunteers, the information that you provide will be used by CARAS to match you to researchers who are seeking volunteers for studies addressing alternative sexualities. CARAS will verify that these studies have been reviewed and approved by an independent ethics and research review board (called an “Institutional Review Board” or IRB in the United States). Many of these studies will be based in a university or research institution.
If there appears to be a good match, then CARAS will privately contact you to inform you of a research project that you might be interested in. If you are interested in possibly participating in the study, you can contact the researchers using the information that CARAS will provide.
